Onstage atlanta6/19/2023 ![]() Rachel’s voice and songwriting style are a blend of soulful pop and jazz. An accomplished pianist and singer/songwriter, she also plays guitar. Rachel is an active member of the Vanderbilt University Theatre.Ī founding leader of Category 5, AGS’s a cappella group, Rachel was an avid thespian, musician, and singer involved in many of the school’s productions and talent showcases during her time as an AGS student. She works with students speaking Spanish, Arabic, and using American Sign Language and is actively learning each of these languages. Rachel Platt is currently a junior at Vanderbilt, majoring in Elementary Education and Child Studies with minors in Special Education and Theatre. Not only did I learn better in every subject this way, but I also learned more about real-world issues through programs like EDLS.“ I got so much individual attention from teachers who knew my goals, I felt like I was more than just a number. AGS offered me a unique educational environment that I couldn’t get anywhere else. More than 80,000 students each year experience age-specific professional performances and participate in acting classes, drama camps and in-school initiatives through the Alliance Theatre Acting Program and Education Department. The Alliance’s dedication to providing access to the arts is reflected in its commitment to creating new work for all ages, and to bringing that work into classrooms and communities across Atlanta and throughout the region.
